How It All Runs is an independent educational channel. It takes the technology you use every day and quietly ignore — and shows how it actually works, one clear story at a time.
Most explanations of technology are either a one-line metaphor that leaves you no wiser, or a textbook that assumes you already understand. How It All Runs sits in between: each episode picks one honest question — what really happens when you type a URL? how does the padlock keep your card safe? how does a message find the right phone? — and follows the real path the data takes, from the moment you tap to the moment it lands.
The goal is the click of understanding: not memorising a definition, but seeing the mechanism move.
Every episode is produced with a custom, fully local pipeline — no cloud rendering services involved:
Episodes are drawn from a structured library of 950 topics across 18 subject areas — networking fundamentals, DNS, transport protocols, the web and TLS, routing and the internet backbone, Wi-Fi and wireless, cellular, network security and VPNs, data centres and cloud delivery, and the wider landscape of cybersecurity products. You can browse what's already published on the episodes page.
How It All Runs is made and published by one person. It is not a company product and has no third-party users — it is an independent creator publishing original educational videos to the channel's own accounts on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
